Color Dare Entry #281

This week's Color My Heart Color Dare entry is another tic-tac-toe challenge with the colors from the Make Waves set.  I completed two lines, Lagoon, Willow, and Pansy & Pansy, Bashful, and Pixie.  The other colors on the board are present in some of the patterns also used.

This card is a little different than a regular A2 size.  The finished card measures 3 1/2 by 5 1/2.  There is also some thickness to this card that could making mailing it a bit tricky with postage.  Cards like this I will usually pay the extra for a padded mailer or even the small priority box.  I have lost a beautiful card for Mom last year so the extra money is well worth it.
The starting base cut at 5 1/2 and 12 inches.  Scoring against the long side at 3 1/2, 6, and 7 1/2.  I like using the SureCut Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer because of the dual cutting and scoring abilities but also because of the next step too.  Marking through the opening of the cutting area with a pencil at the top and bottom long sides at 4 1/2 and 7 1/2.  Then using the opening and metal guard wire match up the opposite side pencil marks to make angled score lines.  I know that sounds more confusing than it really is; hopefully the diagram below is more helpful.  The angled folds are folded up as mountains and the three previous folds are valley folds.

Once I had practiced with the White Daisy cuts and folds I made this base out of Willow cardstock.  I layered another panel of Lagoon cardstock cut at 3 1/4 by 5 1/4 and the stripes of Make Waves paper pack at 3 by 5.  There are two strips of the Make Waves Shimmer Trim at the top and bottom.

With the extra middle bits of the card I made the front decoration part of a belly band to help keep it closed.  The base is a strip of Bashful cardstock cut at 1 inch and layered with the Bashful Star paper from the Make Waves set cut at 3/4 inches.  The stamp is from this month's Stamp of the Month Birthday Time and stamped in Pansy ink.  I had to fussy cut the stamp outline out and then backed it with Pixie cardstock and fussy cut that out as well.  It is attached with Thin 3-D Foam Tape.

The inside of the card is the fun part.  I cut apart that white template and trimmed down the large triangle area on each side by 1/8 to make a template.  Using this template I cut the floral pattern from the Make Waves set.

On the left panel another panel of Lagoon cardstock cut at 3 1/4 by 5 1/4 and of the Bashful Star paper from the Make Waves set cut at 3 by 5 inches.  A strip of the Make Waves Shimmer Trim at the top of the panels.  The decorated card is part of the pocket scrapbooking pages in the Make Waves set.  It is stamped at the top in Pansy ink with another stamp from this month's Stamp of the Month Birthday Time.

On the right panel another panel of Lagoon cardstock cut at 3 1/4 by 5 1/4 and of the Bashful Star paper from the Make Waves set cut at 3 by 5 inches.  A strip of the Make Waves Shimmer Trim at the bottom of the panels.  The decorated card is part of the pocket scrapbooking pages in the Make Waves set.

Heart2Heart Challenge: Everything but the Kitchen Sink!

I am usually a card maker, but occasionally I will do other projects and scrapbook.  For this Heart2Heart challenge it had to be kitchen related and I happen to be working on the kitchen remodel page in Artie's book.  The summer after buying my house I painted the kitchen cabinets, walls, trim, everything but the kitchen sink, counters, and floors.  Artie would rub up against the paint and have teal tipped fur.  If I was working on the floor she had to sit against me.  I really should add this in a journal box on this page.

The paper stripes used are mostly from a retired collection called Happy Times.  But there is also some use of the current color of the year Bashful Glitter Paper.  These papers were layered on plain White Daisy cardstock.  The gold letters spelling out her name Artemis are left over from the wreath special in Jan 2017.

There are two stripes of Gold Shimmer Trim running in the paper stripes on each page.  There are also several Gold Glitter Gems throughout the pages.

The flowers poking through the stripes are from the retired coordinating stamp set Happy Times.  They were inked with Tangerine, Sweet Leaf, Canary, Glacier, Raspberry, Fern, and Bashful inks.  The flowers with the larger heart were cut from the patterned paper.  The stamped sentiments were stamps also part of the retired coordinating stamp set Happy Times.

The hearts were cut using the Thin Cuts - Basic Hearts middle two sizes out of Raspberry cardstock.  Thin cuts are on an incredible sale with bigger bundle sales this month with the Die-namite Celebration.  All the pennant shapes were hand cut using the ruler and piercing tool to mark the center inside point and cutting to that mark from the corners.    The Glacier paper pennant was also embossed with the Rose Embossing Folder.  Some of these layers on both pages were attached with Thin 3-D Foam Tape and the regular 3-D Foam Tape.

Color Dare #280

Another Color My Heart Color Dare entry and birthday card for Erin.  This round of colors are Pixie, Emerald, and Pansy.  All of these colors are also part of the Make Waves paper pack.

This card base is not a normal card size so it was made from a sheet of White Daisy.  The paper is 8 by 6 scored at four inches.  The solid layer is cut at 3 3/4 by 5 3/4 out of Pixie.  The split chevron pattern is cut at 3 1/2 and 5 1/2.  This and the purple dots cut at  5 1/2 and 1 1/4 are from the Make Waves pack.  The White Shimmer Trim is cut in half and run on top of the purple dots.  There are three Clear Sparkles in the top right corner.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from the Birthday Sparkles set.  The stamp is stamped in Pixie ink on White Daisy cardstock and layered with Emerald cardstock.  On the end of the stamped lines are 5 Bitty Sparkles

On the inside a plain sheet of Pansy cardstock was cut at 6 x 10 and scored at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 inches.  The inside is an accordion folds.  On the first and third folds have two 2x2 squares at the top and bottom.  The middle fold has the emerald 2x2 square with another Happy Birthday sentiment.

The side panels are decorated with more pansy dots and a zip strip of emerald dots.  There is also another strip of the white shimmer trim split in half.

All of the patterned papers are from the Make Waves paper pack.
