Baby Elephant

My sweet, baby niece Marli turns one month old this week.  In addition to making the monthly rosettes for my sister to use and take a billion pictures for her scrapbook I sent her a little note in this adorable card.
The elephant is from the CTMH cricut cartridge Flower Market.  It cuts in two layers of the Pixie pink and the Slate gray.  The pennants were also cut from this cartridge.  Going across the twine the left is on the Slate of the Basic Fundamental paper pack, the second was on White Daisy and stamped using the coordinating stamps from the Flower Market package and Pixie Ink, the middle was cut on White Daisy and stamped with a mini heart and using a gray colored pencil to add the border, the fourth was on White Daisy and stamped using the coordinating stamps from the Flower Market package and Slate Ink, and the last one was cut from a Pixie pattern in the Whimsy Fundamental paper pack.
The bottom sentiment is also a stamp from the set that comes with Flower Market.  There are a ton of sentiments with this set that are becoming my favorites.  The hearts are from a lot of different sets I already had out on my desk from another project.
The embellishments are the Shimmer Trim in pink and white.  I also used a White Dot for the elephant's eye.  The background paper is plain White Daisy that was embossed using the Confetti Embossing Folder.

Little Dreamer

Unicorns!  The Little Dreamer set is amazing and if you know anyone that loves unicorns this is a must for them.  I made a few thank you notes in a Stair Step Card.  I created a cricut design space file for the card base that you can access for free here.

I used a lot of the different thin cuts from Little Dreamer set.  The unicorn and saying come from the Little Dreamer Cardmaking set.  The rainbow and cloud set come from the Little Dreamer Scrapbooking set.  The pink that perfectly matched my nails at the time is called pixie.  :)  This seems to be a trend of mine; picking nail colors based on what I am crafting.

Of course there had to be some shimmer brush added and the unicorn's horn is a perfect spot for it.  I used the clear shimmer brush for this part.

Here is the finished product completely assembled.  I add some white shimmer trim split in half, used some bitty sparkles on the corners of the left panel, and some of the little dreamer glitter gems to decorate the stepped panels.

Here is the top view of the different folded sections.

The inside is a little different to decorate so I did a small portion in the bottom corner.  I left the main left panel to write my note.

July Stamp of the Month

This month's Stamp set is a pretty one inch alphabet.  Storybook Alphabet can be yours for only $5 with a qualifying $50 purchase.
Each letter has a unique pattern that be left plain and simple or colored in.

In addition to be used as titles in scrapbooks and names/info on cards I have been using them to dress up the envelopes for the cards I have been working on.  I use my initials and add my return address in the top left.  I use the initial and then write in the remaining part of the name in the center.  Adding the recipient's address underneath.  In this case I colored in the floral designs with some of the awesome ShinHan Twin Touch Markers, using the fine point to fill in the tiny spaces.

What would you use these letter stamps for?

Prickly Pear - Birthday

This month's focused paper pack is Prickly Pear.  It features cactus, flowers, bright rainbow stripes, and southwest style patterns.  The colors in this collection are Blossom, Emerald, Lemon, Poppy, Sapphire, Sea Glass, Sorbet, Tangerine, and White Daisy.  Check out all the Prickly Pear products here!
For my Scuzzie's (Cousin that is like a Sister) Birthday I made a card using the bright Prickly Pear Paper.  This is a gatefold card on its side and the Cricut Design Space File for the base layers can be found here.  The middle flap that is only attached on the top is decorated with the Prickly Pear Complements and the Prickly Pear Sequins.  The ribbon is one of the products that I have fallen in love with, the Blue Burlap Ribbon.  It is like 6 small strands of twine lined together.  It also comes in white, which is like a beige perfect for a beachy look.

On the inside I also continued the use of the Prickly Pear Complements for the banner that also shows through to the front.  The Happy Birthday came from the Birthday Sparkles stamp set and was stamped in Sapphire (which perfectly matches that blue burlap ribbon).

Father's Day

For my dad this year I knew I wanted to use the Jack Paper Pack and the coordinating Jack - Cardmaking Stamp set, but, I had no idea how to layout this card.  So as usual I went on a pinterest hunt and it was like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  There is a fellow CTMH consultant, Jennifer Smith, that creates these amazing layouts.  When I grow up to be a big league crafter I want to create like she does.  You can check out her work on her blog here.  I stole this layout from a scrapbook design she had created and shrunk it down to make a card.

The flowers and leafy cuts came from the CTMH cricut cartridge Flower Market.  I rolled them to give them a 3-D layered look and added some Black Dots to their centers.  There are some more white dots through out the card around some retired black star embellishments.  The larger stars and the bottom wood grain pennant came from the Jack Complements set.

The Jack Cardmaking Stamp set is a thin cut set, meaning it comes with metal dies to use in a cuttlebug to perfectly cut out the stamped image.

I used the scraps from the front to decorate the inside.  The white area looks a little off/weird because I had already written my note and then remembered to take a picture.

Happy Father's Day!!

Live Beautifully

May is National Scrapbooking Month...so of course there is an amazingly, beautiful constant campaign taking place called Live Beautifully.  There are many options from the gorgeous floral and gold embossed paper pack, the coordinating stamp set, a Cut Above Layout Kit and even a bundle with supplies such as an album, tape runner, and journalling pen.  Check out all the great deals here.

Using some of the paper from the paper pack and the stamp set sentiment of "Smile" and "be your own kind of beautiful"  I made some quick cards for a couple of friends.

I am slowly becoming obsessed with the shimmer brushes, the gold one to be exact.  I added some highlights on the center of the flowers to tie into the gold on the bow in the white and gold ribbon.  It's so quick and easy to add a little bit of sparkle to any of the papers.

One the inside I used some of the left over stripes from making the front of the card and tied it all together leaving plenty of room on the 5x7 card to write a note.

Let me know if this is helpful or wanted:  I sketch out all of my cards and layouts in my notebook with measurements and paper ideas.  Below is a picture of what I had planned with this card.

Would you be interested in getting these with all my project posts?  Let me know!

A Cut Above Layout Kit - Little One

One of the promotions for this month (until the end of April) is 15 Minute Memories.  This is a scrapbooking layout kit that provides the paper, embellishments, layering pieces, and even page protectors to complete 2 double paged layouts.  Once assembled it will be super easy to just stick pictures into the layouts and page slots.  The discount running until April 30th has two separate kits at 50% off (everything for $7.48!!!)

I put together the Little One layout for a baby book that I am building [not for me people].  Keeping in mind that moms of newborns don't have a lot of time to focus on much of anything let alone saving pictures to scrapbook this is perfect.  The kit comes with directions and layout suggestions for all the pieces to be incorporated into the pages.

The papers in this kit were meant to coordinate together and layout perfectly with the embellishments.  I love the gray/green baby neutral combination.

The cut pieces are precut for you and I just had to pop them off the tiny tabs holding them together.

This layout kit has a traditional 2 page scrapbook layout and a 2 page divided/insert/pocket style scrapbook layout.

The other set of directions and suggestions for the pocket sections, also in full color!

Here is the complete scrapbook layout.  Total time of assembling with adhesives was under an hour for all of it.  Pay no attention to the upside down photo place holder... lol.

This is my favorite part of the layout with the title, the stickers, and the layered pieces.

This cute accent with the different greys and greens is adorable in the top corner.

This limited time deal will appear in the cart section as you are shopping.  There are two options.  The Little One kit and the Forever and Always kit.

Flock Together - April Stamp of the Month

Stamp of the Month is one of my favorite specials that Close to My Heart offers.  Every month a limited edition full size stamp set normally sold for $17 is only $5 with a qualifying $50 order.  This month the feature stamp set is Flock Together.  If you know me you know that I have no love for bird creatures, however, the sentiments on this stamp set are adorable.  I have also used the cute scalloped border on a different project...to be posted later.

For this card I used a modified gatefold card template with a 2 1/2 square flap.  You can get the cricut design space file for the basic cuts/folds here. The green stripes and heart zip strip is what I have left over from the Some Kinda Wonderful paper pack.  There was not much left as I have now used every little scrap of this fun, bright pack.

I used the full thickness of the Green Shimmer Trim on the square flap portion.  I peeled the back layer off and placed it on my paper trimmer to be cut down the middle for the skinnier, longer panel accents.  All stamps were stamped in black ink on raspberry paper.

Something that used to unnerve me while crafting was cutting apart a stamp set, (I was so worried that I would ruin it somehow) not so much anymore.  I like to to rearrange the layout of images, separate words, or use different colors on flower/leaf combinations.  For this set I cut the huge So Happy Together apart stamp in order to stack the words on the inside of the card to get happy by itself peeking through the gap.  I also added a writing block hidden on the inside with more leftovers of the heart zip strip and glitter ribbon halfs.

Here is a sideways view of the card half way opened showcasing the hidden inside.

A Sweet Birthday

I am in love with many things... fun, bright paper, bling/sparkles, shimmer ribbon, and shimmer brushes.  However, lately my obsession has been focused on cards that fold in unique ways.  The next few posts will be demonstrating this focus with those other supplies I love.

To start I have made an easel pop card.  The cricut design space file for the card base and patterned layer is linked below.  The card base is a basic A2 (5 1/2 by 4 1/4).  When folded flat it will fit into a standard envelope with basic postage.  The layers are off set, centered by 1/4 of an inch.  The cupcake is a stamp/thin cut set called Sweet Birthday; it also includes the sentiment on the front.  The paper is from the Sugar Rush paper pack and solids used are Tangerine, Blossom, and Sea Glass.

As the name suggests this is a pop up card that holds itself on the sentiment underneath (also from the Sweet Birthday stamp set) like an easel.  Such a cute display style card with shimmer ribbon used underneath.  The bling is from the Sugar Rush Dots assortment.  These embellishments are found here.

A peek at the side profile of the card and into the inside where a note could be written.

The Happy Birthday with sprinkles on top! comes from another sweet treat themed stamp set called Sugar Rush - Cardmaking.

The cupcake was colored with basic colored pencils but a little gold shimmer was added to the frosting.  These brushes are amazing for adding just a little bit of sparkle.

As promised the link to the design space file is here!  Enjoy making a sweet card for someone!
